What Does 'As Above, So Below' Actually Mean?

The hermetic principle of correspondence — "as above, so below" — is one of the oldest ideas in spiritual philosophy. It comes from the Emerald Tablet, a text attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, and it proposes something both simple and radical: that what exists in the spiritual realm is mirrored in the physical world. The cosmos and the body are not separate. The stars and the soil speak the same language.

We named this company after that principle because we believe self-care is not just physical maintenance. When you lather a bar of soap made with intention — with herbs chosen for their energetic properties, essential oils blended for a specific chakra, and a genuine gemstone emerging as you use it — you are tending to both halves of yourself at once. The above and the below. The spirit and the skin.

This isn't about belief or dogma. It's about paying attention. When you hold a bar of Root Chakra soap and feel the weight of red jasper in your palm, the warm scent of frankincense rising in the steam, you don't need to believe in chakras for the experience to ground you. The ritual itself does the work.

As above, so below. As within, so without. As the spirit, so the skin.
